Logistics is Female: REICHHART Logistik wins double nomination
Gilching near Munich – The Logistics Initiative Bavaria and the Bavarian State Ministry of Housing, Construction and Transport yesterday awarded the "Logistics is Female" ("Logistik ist weiblich") prize for the first time. As a family-owned company committed to women in the industry, with many strong female colleagues making a significant contribution to success every day, REICHHART Logistik was nominated in two out of three categories.
"Logistics | is Female" honours people, companies as well as commitment and projects that make the industry more female-friendly. At the award ceremony, which took place yesterday in Nuremberg as part of the Bavaria | Night of Logistics, REICHHART was pleased to receive nominations in the category "Inspiration" for the site manager Silvia Jocher and in the category "Strategy" as a company. Christian Bernreiter, Bavarian Minister of State for Housing, Construction and Transport, presented REICHHART with the "Special Award for Inspiring Commitment and Courageous Action" in both categories.
Strategy is Female – Companies that are committed
Equal opportunities, workplace attractiveness and development potential: In the "Strategy | is Female" category, an official panel of female experts selected companies that are strongly committed to these issues. REICHHART Logistik was one of seven companies on the list of nominees.
As a medium-sized family business, the compatibility of career and family as well as further development and growth are core components of REICHHART's personnel policy. In doing so, the mid-market company offers a high degree of working time flexibility. Among other things, it supports individual part-time hours, mothers in management positions, and colleagues pursuing personal or professional development. The logistics service provider also encourages women to take on responsibility and grow into management positions. This is also reflected in the proportion of women at senior management level, which at 45 percent is above the industry average.
REICHHART also relies on attention-grabbing communication in this area. Campaigns such as Ladies in Logistics shines a spotlight on women in the company and highlights the prospects the industry has to offer.
Inspiration is female – Strong women in logistics
The category "Inspiration | is Female" is dedicated to women who have set an example through an extraordinary career, inspiring commitment or courageous assertiveness and inspire others to follow suit. For REICHHART Logistik, site manager Silvia Jocher was on the list of applicants. The expert panel, consisting of 15 women in the industry, approved this proposal and nominated her as one of nine women.
As head of a logistics site and manager of 60 employees, Silvia Jocher is an outstanding example of equality. After joining the industry for a career change, she completed several stations as project manager before successfully taking over operation of the REICHHART site in Pliening last year. "For me, it was a given that I could make a difference in this industry. In my view, logistics is a passion. No matter what gender a person is, there is room for everyone in logistics," confirms the site manager. With this self-understanding, she is able to demonstrate assertiveness and leadership on a daily basis in the male-dominated industry. In addition to a clear attitude and logistical expertise, interpersonal skills are also important to her: "For me, mutual respect plays a big role. I think a good leader – whether male or female – meets people at eye level and with kindness."
